What is the difference between virtual hosting and independent hosting?

Web hosting is suitable for small websites and applications where the cost is relatively low and performance and control requirements are not high. Dedicated hosting is suitable for large websites and applications that require higher performance, flexibility and security, but the cost is relatively high. Which hosting type you choose depends on your needs, budget, and level of need for resources, performance, and control.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) and Dedicated Server are two common types of hosting services. They have the following differences:

Resource allocation: A virtual host uses virtualization technology to divide multiple virtual environments on a physical server. Each environment has independent resources (such as CPU, memory, disk space). An independent host refers to a complete physical server dedicated to providing services to one customer, and the customer has all exclusive resources.

Performance and scalability: Because a virtual host shares the resources of a physical server, its performance may be affected by other virtual environments. When other users' virtual environments use large amounts of resources, it can have an impact on your application. In contrast, dedicated hosting offers higher performance and resource availability because you are not sharing resources with other users.

Flexibility and control: In a virtual host, you can use the virtualization panel to manage your virtual environment, but your permissions are limited to the underlying operating system and configuration of the physical server. In dedicated hosting, you have complete control and can freely choose the operating system, configure the server, and perform advanced customizations.

Cost: Virtual hosting is usually more affordable than dedicated hosting because resource sharing can reduce costs. Independent hosts require the entire physical server to be purchased and managed independently, so the cost is relatively high.

Security: Since virtual hosts share server resources, security threats to one virtual host may have an impact on other virtual environments. Independent hosts usually have higher security and isolation due to exclusive resources.
